  My partner and I recently visited your store looking for decorations for our Christmas tree, we left empty handed, with a sense of despair and disappointment, to say the least. When we saw a Christmas tree decorated with Golliwog dolls, my partner and I looked at each other, and without a word walked out. We quickly changed our minds, deciding we could not leave without saying anything. My partner is an African American woman, and has been living with me, a Lebanese Australian for the last five years. Our brief time in your store was the worst experience we’ve shared as a couple in over five years.
  My partner was calm and polite, explaining that displaying and selling golliwog dolls was insensitive. The exchange that followed was appalling. Your cashier, first incorrectly stated that “we call them gollidolls now”, despite the fact that the tags on the dolls you are selling say “golliwog”. Next she said “and to be honest, you’re the only person in three months who’s had a problem with it.” And finally, “I’m sorry you’re so sensitive.”
  She also tried to justify the dolls saying that they originated in Papua New Guinea as a sign of respect for those who helped our soldiers. This history of the golliwog dolls is incorrect, and if anything of what she said is true, for Australians to introduce these dolls as a sign of respect to people of colour, is ignorant to the racism that is directly tied to the history of this doll. The golliwog character originated in a children’s book in 1895 and later became a children’s toy. The character was inspired by blackface minstrels and was described as “a horrid sight, the blackest gnome” who made the dolls “scatter in fright.”
  The next time a customer advises you that an item you have on display is insensitive, don’t try to justify it with further cultural insensitivity, but question why they might see it that way. Although you may have fond childhood memories of playing with these dolls, and insist that there is no racist intent behind them, it is not for people who looks like you and I to dictate what is and is not racist.

  Lovely little local Christmas shop that's only open half the year. The quality of the tinsel is some of the best I've found in a while.
  I happened to go here right before Christmas and while the stock was low they still had a reasonable amount of items there.

  Fantastic place to get all your festive decorations. Really knowledgeable and helpful staff. Happy with our new tree. Will definitely visit again.

  I bought a Santa with rain-deers lasted 1 Christmas. 2nd Christmas lights on the reindeer stopped working.working.
  Heather explained the item was cheap Chinese made products. What do you expect. Paid well over $160 and she was quick to hang up. Poor service.

  Well decorated shop with lots of choices at good prices. The owners are lovely and welcoming. The warm and cool strip lights work like a charm. Thank you!
